Tom Hanks as David S. Pumpkins Invades Classic Horror Movies in New Viral Video

By Nick Schager, Yahoo Movies

Tom Hanks can do anything — including scaring people silly. For proof, consider the Oscar-winning star’s latest creation, David S. Pumpkins: a pumpkin-suited weirdo accompanied by two skeleton-costumed b-boy dancers from last weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live. OK, we’ll grant you that the character in his debut was not so much terrifying as randomly, hilariously bizarre. But a new video on Twitter (watch it above) aims to change that, giving Hanks’s newest persona the grand horror showcases he always deserved (well, at least since last Saturday).

Via some clever (if, technically speaking, somewhat awkward) digital wizardry, Buzzfeed’s Jesse McLaren has inserted Hanks’s clownish character into some of Hollywood’s freakiest films. Because obviously, the only thing that could make The Shining, Halloween, Scream, and The Ring more frightening is Pumpkins. Lots more Pumpkins.

While Hanks is apt to garner far more awards-season attention for his role in Clint Eastwood’s Sully (or, for that matter, even Ron Howard’s Inferno, which debuts in theaters today), his 2016 may be best remembered for his brief and batty turn as SNL’s Pumpkins, who’s quickly becoming a Halloween-themed internet sensation. You can watch his classic-movie cameos above, and check out his small-screen debut below. And then you too can be clued into what’s quickly becoming Hanks’s most memorable comedic role in decades.
