Tobin Bell Joins Thriller ‘The Deep End’

“Saw” actor Tobin Bell has joined Citizen Skull’s thriller “The Deep End,” Variety has learned exclusively.

He joins Nora-Jane Noone (“Brookyln”) and Alexandra Park (“The Royals”), who are playing sisters who become trapped under the fiberglass cover of a public pool. Shooting starts Monday in Los Angeles for three weeks.

Matt Eskandari is directing from a script he co-wrote with Michael Hultquist. Citizen Skull’s Mark Myers, executive producer of “Manson Family Vacation” and “Experimenter,” will oversee the production with executive producers Fernando Szew, Sharon Bordas and Hannah Pillemer.

Bell portrayed the iconic John Kramer/Jigsaw character in all seven “Saw” movies between 2004 and 2010. His demented character — a former engineer — tested others’ will to live by placing them in deadly traps as symbols of what he saw as a moral flaws in the victims, in hopes that survivors would gain a new appreciation for their lives.

Bell most recently appeared in “Manson Family Vacation.” His credits date back to 1988’s “Mississippi Burning” and include “Goodfellas,” “In the Line of Fire,” “The Firm,” “The Quick and the Dead” and “Dark House.”

Eskandari’s directing credits include Lionsgate’s “Game of Assassins,” starring Bai Ling, and IFC Midnight’s “Victim.”

Bell is repped by Kate Edwards of Grand View Management.
