The 'Hobbit' Trilogy to Get One-Day Marathon Screenings on Dec. 15

Are you a Hobbit fan? With nine hours to spare? Well, you better clear your calendar, because you’re going to get a chance to catch The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies,the final installment in Peter Jackson’s second J.R.R. Tolkien trilogy, two days before the official release date — and watch the other two movies beforehand. According to the Tolkien fansite The One Ring, special one-day marathon screenings of the Hobbit films will take place at select IMAX theaters on Monday, Dec. 15.

The three installments that make up the most expensive film trilogy ever produced will likely unspool with this schedule: An Unexpected Journey at 1 p.m., The Desolation of Smaug at 4:05 p.m., and, finally, The Battle of the Five Armies at 7:00 p.m. — although at that point, audiences will likely be engaged in the Battle to Stay Awake. Tickets will reportedly go on sale this Friday (Nov. 15)  — check your local listings to see if your favorite IMAX theater will be participating.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will open in theaters (for all you non-super fans) on Dec. 17.
