Thorin Rules in the Final Trailer for 'The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies'

The Force Awakens may be all the rage today, but don’t overlook The Battle of Five Armies. Peter Jackson’s final installment in The Hobbit trilogy has a final trailer, and it’s an action-packed two-and-a-half minutes teeming with dramatic close-ups (seemingly everyone in the sprawling cast gets one) and rousing battle cries as the various races of Middle-earth prepare for the climactic clash.

The scale of said clash looks particularly massive, but we’d expect so much from a battle involving, you know, five armies. Yet with so many different faces, it’s surprising that it’s neither Martin Freeman’s Bilbo nor Ian McKellen’s Gandalf (who, by the way, looks like he’s been through the ringer here) who gets the most. That honor goes to Richard Armitage’s fierce Dwarf leader Thorin Oakenshield. His head may not be as big as Bilbo’s on the poster, but will he prove the true star of Five Armies?

The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies opens Dec. 17.
