The Darth Vader Yule Log Is Here to Make Christmas Bright

This holiday season, brave the crowds to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens, then come home to a relax in front of a roaring fire lit by Luke Skywalker. The Darth Vader Yule Log, a five-hour video of Vader’s burning funeral pyre, has arrived just in time to bring a merry Sith-mas to fans without a fireplace. Watch it above, then bookmark it for later (when you have the hot cocoa and Stormtrooper marshmallows ready).

The video is clipped, of course, from Return of the Jedi. Our hero Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) has just returned from an epic fight with his father (as preordained by Yoda), the evil Imperial leader Darth Vader. At the last moment, Vader recognized his love for his estranged son, and turned the course of history in favor of the Rebels, losing his own life in the process. Before joining his fellow rebellion leaders in celebration at the Ewok village, Luke honors his father with a burial by fire. In the movie, however, the scene lasts about 45 seconds — whereas YouTube user BenjaminApple has extended the Vader-on-fire moment to five hours, accompanied by the comforting noises of a crackling log. Make it all the way to the end and you’ll hear a few notes of the Ewok celebration song: your cue to start the whole thing over.
