The Collector, Uni-Kitty, 'Star Wars': Lego Comic-Con Sneak Peeks

Lego is getting meta on us: at next week’s San Diego Comic-Con, collectors will be able to collect the Collector.

This is the minifigure that will be given away at the Lego booth and is based on the character played by Benicio Del Toro in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy.

Not much is known about the Collector’s role in the latest Marvel movie. Del Toro debuted as the frosty-coifed character in the end credits of Thor: The Dark World and only briefly appeared in the Guardians trailers.

In the comics, the Collector is an OCD curator who seeks to preserve intergalactic treasures from destruction by the big, bad Thanos (played in the film by Josh Brolin). Along the way, this Elder of the Universe uses his superpowers to stash away everything from Infinity Gems to the actual Avengers.

Lego is also rolling out another Comic-Con-only Guardians set, this 145-piece model featuring the rowdy rodent Rocket Raccoon and his Warbird ship.

The Lego Movie will also be represented, with this new Uni-Kitty (she changes from “Cuteskitty” to “Cheerkitty” in a flick of the wrist) among the booth goodies. Speaking of the feisty feline, her angry self and Batman will team up in a new Lego Movie set, shown here for the first time, which will be available in January (right).

Finally, here’s a sneak peek at another Comic-Con exclusive: the Millennium Falcon-esque freighter The Ghost, with the astromech droid Chopper, from the upcoming Star Wars Rebels series.

Like the Rocket Raccoon Warbird set, The Ghost model is only available at Comic-Con… but check back at Yahoo Movies next week to learn how to win both.
