The Bathroom Song Birds From 'Lean on Me' Reunite for a Performance 25 Years Later

Getting introduced as “The Young Men from the Bathroom” doesn’t sound like the world’s highest compliment, but when the bathroom in question was the one featured in Lean on Me, it changes the equation. And mention of your role in the beloved 1989 Morgan Freeman-led drama will even get you some on-air applause.

Dish Nation held a little high school reunion for a few of the Eastside Song Birds, who soulfully crooned the academy’s anthem after getting busted by Freeman’s reformist principal, Joe Clark.

Jermaine Hopkins, Michael Best, Steven Cappers and Anthony Fuller – three of whom attended the Paterson, New Jersey high school in real life – along with ‘new member’ Delvis Damon, turned up at Dish’s Atlanta studio to reprise their lavatory harmony. And as Dish says, they’ve still got it. It’s also nice to see they’ve graduated to more sanitary performance spaces.
