Watch a New Clip of the Millennium Falcon — and See Which Famous Vehicle Is Hitching a Ride
The back-and-forth between directors J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: Episode VII) and Zack Snyder (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) continues: For more than a month now, the two filmmakers have been releasing jokey, franchise-fusing photos in which the Star Wars and Batman worlds collide (it's not the first time Abrams has mashed up beloved properties, as the director snuck R2-D2 into a frame of his 2009 Star Trek reboot). This morning, Abrams escalated the tongue-in-cheek feud even further: A quick clip was unveiled via Bad Robot’s YouTube page — a video that not only gives us our closest glimpse yet at the Millennium Falcon, but also keeps the Gotham-gags going.
After some detailed pans of the Falcon — which still looks, thankfully, like a piece of junk — the video's accompanying music turns from John Williams' hope-filled Star Wars music to Hans Zimmer's intense theme from the Dark Knight films. We then see, attached to the bottom of the Falcon, a miniature version of Christopher Nolan's "Tumbler" Batmobile — one that looks just as beat-up and dirty as Han Solo's famous ship:
Is Abrams paying a sneak homage to The Empire Strikes Back, in which Solo attaches the Falcon to a Star Destroyer? Or is he hinting to Warner Bros. that he's interested in taking over one of the countless comic-book adaptations they have in the works? No matter what, it looks like the longest, most elaborate fan-fiction tease of all time won't be ending soon.
