The 10 Best Movie-Themed Viral Videos of 2015

They can be as simple as a toilet paper dispenser that sounds like a Wookiee, or as complex as a 10-minute film created with footage from cinema’s greatest club scenes. This year, some of our favorite viral videos paid homage to the movies with pranks, songs, and unexpectedly entertaining interviews. Here, the 10 best film-themed viral videos of 2015. And for the 10 best movie-related memes of 2015, go here.

Hell’s Club

Movie mash-ups are a dime a dozen, but this particularly inventive short film by French director Antonio Da Silva took it to another level, combining crowd scenes from dozens of films into the story of a nightclub where characters played by the same actor – Carlito and Serpico, Vincent Vega and Tony Manero, young Obi-Wan and Renton from Trainspotting – come face-to-face. And then get shot at by The Terminator.

The Straight Outta Compton Rap Lyrics Quiz

We weren’t surprised that this video – in which Yahoo Movies’ own Kevin Polowy challenged Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins, Jason Mitchell, and O'Shea Jackson Jr. to complete classic rap verses – went viral. The video captures the youthful enthusiasm and hip-hop cred that made the NWA biopic one of the year’s best films.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Wax Museum Prank

Tourists come to Madame Tussauds in Los Angeles to pretend they’re hanging out with movie stars, but a few lucky visitors this summer found themselves posing next to the actual Arnold Schwarzenegger. The best part: When the Terminator suddenly “comes to life,” they are all basically terrified. The actor pulled the stunt, and also walked down Hollywood Boulevard in character, to promote an Omaze charity campaign tied to Terminator Genisys.

Chewbacca Toilet Paper

This toilet paper dispenser that roars like a Wookiee is eight seconds of viral-video perfection.

Stephen Hawking Sings Monty Python’s “Galaxy Song”

A few weeks after Eddie Redmayne won an Oscar for playing him in The Theory of Everything, physicist Stephen Hawking (who is mostly paralyzed by ALS and speaks through a computer system) debuted his delightful rendition of the “Galaxy Song” from 1983’s Monty Python and the Meaning of Life. The video was created for last year’s Python reunion and made an appearance in the 2015 documentary Monty Python: The Meaning of Live.

Katniss Loves Pita

This sublimely silly video from YouTube comedians PistolShrimps takes Josh Hutcherson’s character name from The Hunger Games and runs with it. It’s the perfect chaser for the long and dour Mockingjay — Part 2.

The Julianne Moore Acting Attack

If you’re not already convinced that Julianne Moore is a national treasure, just watch her perform some of her greatest movie scenes for stunned tourists in Times Square. This segment of Billy Eichner’s inspired series Billy On The Street demonstrates that Moore can cry on cue and get into character in the blink of an eye. It’s equal parts hilarious and jaw-dropping. (Warning: strong language.)

Amy Schumer Promotes Trainwreck with “Bill Hader”

The only thing funnier than watching Amy Schumer and Bill Hader riff off each other during the Trainwreck press tour was watching Jon Hamm impersonate Bill Hader during this Extra interview.

Vin Diesel Sings “See You Again” for Paul Walker

Throughout the year, Vin Diesel honored the memory of his late Fast and Furious co-star Paul Walker with emotional musical tributes. One of the simplest and most touching was this spontaneous verse from Wiz Kalifa’s Furious 7 song “See You Again,” which he sang during an interview with Italian film website Fanpage at the movie’s premiere.

Carrie Fisher’s GMA Interview

The press tour for Star Wars: The Force Awakens had its share of great moments (remember Harrison Ford’s hot dog costume?), but none were as enjoyable as Carrie Fisher’s off-the-cuff interviews. During this Good Morning America appearance, the actress who played General Leia – accompanied by her faithful dog Gary – had host Amy Robach laughing so hard that she couldn’t complete the segment.
