'Ted 2' Trailer: Bawdy Bear Strikes a Blow for Marriage Equality (Really!)

That raunchy bear is back and he’s found the love of his life in the first trailer for Ted 2.

And, if we’re interpreting things correctly, the film will be a rumination on such fundamental issues as civil rights, marriage equality, and the ubiquity of Sam L. Jackson.

The trouble is, only humans can marry under the law of the land and, as we know, Ted, voiced by Seth MacFarlane, is a fuzzy zone.

Here are our five quick takeaways from Ted 2:

1. Ted stuck with his ladylove.
Tami-Lynn (Jessica Barth) is back, and she’s graduated from being Ted’s blond bimbo girlfriend to his blond bimbo wife.

2. But what happened to John’s?
Hey, where’s Lori? After hitting a rough patch, John (Mark Wahlberg) and Lori (Mila Kunis) made up by the end of the 2012 original. Ted even made a huge deal about it, telling John to “don’t ever lose her again.” Well, seeing as Kunis is nowhere in the trailer or the movie’s cast listing, John did lose her. Ted 2 writers have some ‘splaining to do!

3. John is a friend indeed.
John is doing Ted an ultimate solid (er, liquid? ew!) by agreeing to be Ted’s sperm donor. Gross-out jokes ensue. Lots of gross-out jokes. And then some.

4. Ted fights the power.
Apparently there are laws against stuffed animals having babies with humans. Who knew? Anyhow, the bawdy bear must hire ace attorney Sam L. Jackson (Amanda Seyfried) to prove his humanity and make his marriage to Tami-Lynn legal. Lots of lawyer jokes ensue.

5. John can toss a mean cookie.
Self explanatory, at the 1:56 mark.

Ted 2, sporting an all-star cast that also includes Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, and Dennis Haysbert, rolls into theaters June 26.
