Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis's 'Thelma & Louise' Flashback

Twenty-three years after they sped off that cliff, Thelma & Louise costars Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis reunited for one of our favorite Throwback Thursdays ever. Sarandon tweeted a photo of she and Davis paying homage to their Polaroid selfie from the classic drama about two best friends on the lam.

It’s a measure of Thelma & Louise's lasting impact that even a snapshot can send the Internet into squeals of delight. The 1991 movie from director Ridley Scott won screenwriter Callie Khouri an Oscar and still rides tall with its fiery (and often funny) take on sexual politics, its gorgeous panorama of the American West, and its moving portrait of friends 'til the end.

Davis and Sarandon both made the rounds in 2011 for the movie’s 20th anniversary, including a special screening at the Toronto Film Festival and a retrospective in Vanity Fair that made clear the actresses’ bond was there from the beginning. “Susan and I were always conspiring about something,” said Davis about the production. During the roadhouse scene, “we asked the prop guy, ‘Do you have any real tequila? Because it’s easier to act if we taste alcohol.’” We can only hope their latest reunion was as much fun.
