Steve Papazian Tapped for New Production Role at Warner Bros. Pictures
Warner Bros. Picture’s Steve Papazian has stepped down as president of worldwide physical production to assume the studio’s recently created role of worldwide production executive.
In his new post, Papazian will consult on physical production issues and oversee projects for the studio’s tentpole releases over the next two years.
A Warner Bros. vet of nearly five decades, Papazian launched his career in the studio’s mailroom in 1968. He went on to hold various positions in studio accounting, operations and eventually production. In his previous role as president of worldwide physical production, Papazian supervised all physical production-related aspects of Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema’s domestic and international films.
Most recently, he oversaw physical production on “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “Suicide Squad” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.” Throughout his tenure he’s developed close relationships with visionaries like Christopher Nolan and Clint Eastwood, who praised the production exec for his “encyclopedic knowledge of global locations and infrastructures” in a recent statement.
“Steve has done an incredible job of managing the busiest and best physical production team in the movie business,” Warner Bros. chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara said in a statement. “He’s been a key part of the Studio’s film success over the last two decades, and we’re glad that he’s agreed to extend his tenure here at Warner Bros.”
Papazian is also a member of the Producers Guild of America and the U.K. Production Guild.
