Stars and Fans React to Alan Rickman's Passing

British actor Alan Rickman passed away at age 69 after a long battle with cancer. A star of stage and screen, Rickman is most well known for his roles as Hans Gruber in Die Hard and Severus Snape in the Harry Potter film franchise, amongst many other fantastic performances in other films.

The reaction to his death has been swift. There has been an outpouring of grief and prayers on the Internet from fans all across the world, as well as responses from his former Harry Potter co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson.

On her Facebook page, Watson posted: “I’m very sad to hear about Alan today. I feel so lucky to have worked and spent time with such a special man and actor. I’ll really miss our conversations. RIP Alan. We love you.”

Radcliffe echoed this sentiment, a portion of which read: “Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. He is also, one of the loyal-est and most supportive people I’ve ever met in the film industry. I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career.”

There is no question that Rickman was respected, and will be missed by stars and fans alike.
