Star Wars Fan Spends a Year Building 7,500 Piece LEGO Millennium Falcon Replica
The Star Wars LEGO sets are a blast. There's something for everyone, from small vehicles and play sets to the larger model-quality vehicles that fans like displaying around their homes.
And then there's the fan-made creations. Whether these are recreations of entire battle scenes, massive Rebel bases, or revamped vehicles, fan creations are often hyper-detailed examples of creativity that change the way us amateurs look at our boxed up sets. Fan Marshal Banana decided he loved the new look of the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and wanted his LEGO version to look as close to the film as possible. The official set contains 1,329 pieces - this fan's contains around 7,500.
His Falcon took about a year, and measures 32 inches long and 21 inches wide.
"My main goal was to present the model in a flying position, which was a huge task," he writes on his flickr page. "Due to its internal framework it was not possible to include an interior, but I was able to fully lighten the model. And there was still enough space left to include a detailed cockpit (with 4 seats), gunner’s platform and a lowering ramp."
