The Phantom Menace
Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine ("Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace") — It's very rare that actors get the chance to play a younger version of a character they played nearly 20 after they originally played it. But that's precisely what happened to Scottish actor Ian McDiarmid when he reprised the role of intergalactic politico Palpatine in George Lucas's first "Star Wars" prequel. McDiarmid had previously played a much older — and much more powerful — version of Palpatine in 1983's "Return of the Jedi." Seeing the apparently good-natured Galactic Republic senator years before he became the evil emperor of the galaxy was one of the only good parts of the prequel.
