Sundance Winners and Losers, Hustle and flow
"Hustle & Flow" (2005): Terence Howard's star turning performance generated a bunch of buzz, which prompted Paramount Classics to fork over $9 million on distribution rights and another $7 million dollars all told. The film cost $2.8 million to make, and it only raked in a little bit more than $22 million domestic and less than $2 million abroad. But it did receive 2 Oscar noms, won 1 for Best Original Song, and taught millions of people that "It's Hard Out Here For A Pimp".
