Movies you didn't know were sequels
"The Queen" — Stephen Frears' 2006 royal drama "The Queen" became an awards season darling thanks to Helen Mirren's captivating performance as Britain's Queen Elizabeth II. While the film is ostensibly a story about the monarch and her family in the wake of Princess Diana's untimely death, it also dealt with then Prime Minister Tony Blair (played by Michael Sheen) and his reaction to the crisis. What many people on this side of the pond may not have realized is that Sheen's presence in the film made it a sort of sequel to Frears' 2003 television movie "The Deal," in which the actor also played PM Blair. The TV movie examined the relationship between Blair and his successor Gordon Brown and was also written by "The Queen" screenwriter Peter Morgan.
