It's been quite a ride for Hardy. The English actor has surfaced from the depths of crack addiction to become one of the hottest commodities in Hollywood. So hot, that director McG had no intention of making the film without Hardy. Being an MMA fighter and an all-around tough guy, Hardy performed many of his own stunts in the film. But because he's a big star now, the insurance company wouldn't let him do the really dangerous ones. That's a far cry from when Hardy persuaded director Ridley Scott to set him on fire instead of using a stuntman during the filming of "Black Hawk Down" (2001).
