Best and Worst Oscar Dresses of All Time
Lizzy Gardiner, 1995. Wearing another dress that merited a Wikipedia entry , the costume designer strung together 254 American Express Gold cards. She had wanted to do this for "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," but AMEX nixed that costume. While her DIY credit transaction was ridiculed, the dress raised more than $12,000 for AIDS research. Oh, and she won that year for Best Costume Design for "Priscilla." Gardiner later said that she was too " broke " for a real dress. Did it have to do with owning 254 cards?
