Sofia Coppola Finds Some Stylish Holiday Spirit in a New Gap Ad Series

Sofia Coppola has gone from Bling Ring to normcore.

Usually associated with hipster chic, the filmmaker took time out from work on her live action adaptation of The Little Mermaid to cut several commercials for the Gap as part of the clothing company’s “Dress Normal” campaign.

Coppola, who follows David Fincher in directing ads for the denim empire, made four spots in total exploring the holiday traditions of well-to-do families. The third one, in particular, (seen above) is a charmer, with a young boy lip syncing to Johnnie Ray’s “Cry.” We suspect he picked up some tips from a master crooner.
