‘Snowden’ Film Has Zachary Quinto Paranoid About Privacy

On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Zachary Quinto stopped by to promote his new movie, Snowden, which comes out on Sept. 16, about the man who leaked confidential National Security Agency files to the public.

When Fallon asked if the actor learned anything about hacking while making the film, Quinto responded, “I learned to put some tape on my laptop camera.” Fallon, coincidentally, had a laptop open on his desk, which prompted Quinto to say, “Someone could be watching us right now!”

Of course, Fallon decided to have fun with Quinto and joked, “A lot of people are watching us right now.” He then feigned paranoia as he proceeded to halt the interview to cover up the television cameras.

Quinto does feel that online privacy is an important issue this year. “I think in an election year, it’s a really good time to kind of brush up on your Snowden and figure out where you stand on an issue that will affect us for years to come, because online privacy and cyberspace is kind of the next frontier of government and, unfortunately, of warfare.”

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
