“Siddharth,” an India-Canada drama about a lost boy, has been picked up by sales agent Fortissimo Films.
The picture is the second feature by Canadian director Richie Mehta and will have its world premiere in the Venice Days section of the Venice festival. It will have its North American bow on home turf in the Contemporary World Cinema section of the Toronto festival a few days later.
Mehta previously directed 2007 drama “Amal” and has recently completed the sci-fi feature film “I’ll Follow You Down,” starring Haley Joel Osment, Gillian Anderson, Rufus Sewell, and Victor Garber to be released in 2014.
“Siddharth” was produced by Steven N. Bray, David Miller and Mehta under their A Poor Man’s Productions label. It stars Rajesh Tailang, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Anurag Arora, Geeta Agrawal Sharma and Naseeruddin Shah.
