Sharon Stone Honored at Marrakech Fest

With more than 110 films from 23 countries, the 13th Marrakech Intl. Film Festival has unveiled its full line-up.

Sharon Stone, pictured above, will receive a career tribute at the opening night ceremony, which will also screen Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Romeo-and-Juliet adaptation “Ram-Leela.”

Juliette Binoche will also receive a career tribute and other thesps attending include Marion Cotillard, Patricia Clarkson, Emmanuelle Seigneur, Marie Gillain, Aissa Maiga, Julie Ferrier and Charlotte Rampling.

The 15-film official competition includes Pawel Pawlikowski’s “Ida,” Mariana Rondon’s “Bad Hair,” Junichi Kanai’s  “Again,” Lisa Langseth’s “Hotell,” Lee Su-Jin’s psychological drama “Hang-Gong Ju,” Jonas Trueba’s “The Wishful Thinkers” and Kevin Macdonald’s “How I Live Now.” The competition also includes six debut features and three sophomore outings.

Two Moroccan films play in official competition: Sean Gullette’s punk band tale “Traitors” and Hiram Ayouch’s “Fevers.”

Moroccan cinema is also profiled in the Cinema at Heart sidebar, with Hicham Lasri’s “They Are the Dogs,” Mohammed Ahed Bensouda’s “Behind Closed Doors” and Said Naciri’s “Sara” and Said C. Naciri’s “Kanyamakan.”

Out of competition pics include Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Cannes Jury Prize winner “Like Father, Like Son”; Terry Gilliam’s sci-fi opus “The Zero Theorem”; James Gray’s “The Immigrant”; Eric Poppe’s “A Thousand Times Good Night”; Alexandra Roach’s “One Chance”; and Daniele Luchetti’s “Those Happy Years.”

This year’s tribute to Scandinavian cinema encompasses 47 films and includes a 44-person delegation of producers, directors, actors and film agency execs from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, featuring helmers Bille August, Nicolas Winding Refn, Per Fly and Jan Troell.

Closing film is Lukas Moodysson’s Swedish teen punk pic, “We are the Best!” that recently won Best Film at Tokyo.

Marrakech runs Nov. 29-Dec.7.
