Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne Have More Terrible Luck in 'Neighbors 2' Trailer

As Hollywood Reporter critic Jon Frosch pointed out, 2015 was a much better year for comedies driven by females (Trainwreck, Spy) than their male counterparts (Get Hard, Daddy’s Home). So the timing seems just right for the gender-flipping sequel, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, which released its first trailer today (watch above).

When pot-smoking college pledge Shelby (Chloe Grace Moretz) discovers that unlike fraternities, sororities in the U.S. aren’t allowed to host parties at the houses — yes, Neighbors 2 dropping some social-action outrage — she starts up her own chapter, Kappa Nu, bent on breaking the rules. Recruited for the cause are fellow party activists Beth (Dope breakout Kiersey Clemons) and Nora (newcomer Beanie Feldstein).

Kappu Nu opens its doors… right next door to lovable young parents Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly Radner (Rose Byrne), the same couple tortured by Greek life in Neighbors. What are the chances?! It’s like if Ray Peterson just happened to move onto the same block as another cannibalistic cult in The ‘Burbs 2: They Probably Should Have Moved to the City.

But who cares, because Neighbors 2 (from returning director Nicholas Stoller, who co-wrote the script with Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Andrew Jay Cohen, and Brendan O'Brien) looks as funny as its 2014 predecessor. It also features Selena Gomez as an uptight rival to Kappa Nu’s party squad and a return appearance from Neighbors alumni Zac Efron (whose shirt-hating Teddy the Radners recruit to help), Ike Barinholtz, Carlo Gallo, Hannibal Buress, Dave Franco, and Lisa Kudrow.
