Seth Meyers Upgrades to Mary-Louise Parker’s Former Manhattan Duplex

BUYER: Seth Meyers
LOCATION: New York City, NY
PRICE: $7,529,500
SIZE: (approx.) 3,200 square feet, 5 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Emmy winning Saturday Night Live writer and late night talk show host Seth Meyers — he also co-writes and executive produces the documentary parodying mockumentary TV series “Documentary Now!” — shelled out $7,529,500 for a celeb-pedigreed duplex co-operative apartment in a full-service pre-war building in New York City’s Greenwich Village. Listing details show the house-sized apartment, previously owned by “Weeds” star Mary-Louise Parker, comes in at right around 3,200 square feet with four and potentially five bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms.

A long entrance hall makes a quick zigzag before it opens to a spacious combination corner living and dining room with ebonized parquet wood floors, a wood-burning fireplace, an open floating staircase, and a slightly less than ideal mix of sash and casement windows with open city views. The compact and efficiently arranged service wing includes a snaking galley-style kitchen with high-end appliances, an unusually roomy walk-in pantry, and a small office or dining area. There are two potential bedrooms on the lower level, one with private bathroom and another with direct access to a half bathroom. At the top of the stairs a snug lounge has another wood burning fireplace and sits in the middle of two en suite guest/family bedrooms, a laundry room, and a city view master suite that incorporates a custom-fitted dressing room and sleekly modern bathroom with double sink vanity, built-in linen cabinet, a garden bath tub below a window, and separate, stone-tiled shower stall.

Mary-Louise Parker, who acquired the duplex with ex-boyfriend and baby-daddy Billy Crudup in 2003 for an unknown amount, sold the two-unit combination in June 2013 for $7.45 million to an online advertising executive a clinical psychologist who turned around and dumped the apartment just 1.5 years later at a stomach churning $550,000 loss, not counting carry costs, improvement expenses and real estate fees. The new owners, alas, quickly came down with a classic case of The Real Estate Fickle and flipped the apartment, as was first revealed by the eagle-eyed celebrity property gossips at Luxury Listings New York, to Mister Meyers and his human rights lawyer wife Alexi, albeit at a profit of nearly $550,000 not counting carry costs, improvement expenses and real estate fees.

The Meyers’ new downtown digs are a considerable upgrade from the 994-square-foot two-bedroom and two-bathroom West Village condominium they bought in late 2013 for $3.525 million.
