See Tom Cruise, 'Harry Potter,' 'E.T.,' 'Ghostbusters,' 'Gremlins,' 'Goonies' Team Up for Lego Game
Lego is about to give us the greatest event movie that never was. The toy brick slingers have assembled an expansive and adorable cast of favorite cinematic characters, many of whom have never been Lego-fied before — like E.T., Tom Cruise, and the Goonies — to join the existing crew of Lego Dimensions.

Dimensions, a toy-game hybrid that came out last year from Lego, Warner Bros. Interactive, and TT Games, links the various realms of the “Lego Multiverse” by bringing together iconic (mini-)figures from film, TV, and video games in a series of comedic adventures. A special portal connects physical Lego sets with gaming consoles. As previewed in the new trailer (above), there will be more than a dozen new properties playable in Dimensions.

The first wave will launch Sept. 27 with packs based on this summer’s all-female Ghostbusters (joining the previously released vintage ‘Busters in the Lego lineup), Mission: Impossible (featuring the first-ever Tom Cruise minifig), Harry Potter, Adventure Time, and The A-Team (I pity the fool who doesn’t find the Lego Mr. T awesome).

Among the other sets rolling out through the fall and into next year: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, The Goonies, Gremlins, Beetlejuice, the Potter tie-in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, The Lego Batman Movie, Knight Rider, The Powerpuff Girls, Teen Titans Go!, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
They join a lineup that already includes Jurassic World, Back to the Future, The Wizard of Oz, The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings, The Lego Movie, The Simpsons, Scooby-Doo, Doctor Who, and an assortment of DC superheroes
The upcoming expansion packs, sold separately, are all compatible with existing Dimensions sets and extend gameplay with four-player battles and a story mode that allows gamers to play through a movie.
