See Our Instant Predictions for the 2017 Golden Globes

The nominees are in, and the stage has been set for the 74th annual Golden Globes on Jan. 8. There are some surprising names in the mix, including folks like Mel Gibson, Lily Collins, Jonah Hill, and Ryan Reynolds. But do any of them stand a chance at winning a statuette?

Watch above as Yahoo Movies’ Kevin Polowy breaks down six of the Globes’ top races: Best Picture, Drama; Best Picture, Musical or Comedy; Best Actress, Drama; Best Actor, Drama; Best Actress, Musical or Comedy; and Best Actor, Musical Comedy.

In the musical/comedy categories, Polowy doesn’t see anything topping Damien Chazelle’s acclaimed song-and-dance throwback La La Land, which lead all films with seven nominations. And that includes in the acting categories, where romantic leads Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling should triumph.

There’s a lot more suspense in the drama categories, with Moonlight facing off against Manchester by the Sea for Best Picture, Natalie Portman (Jackie) looking to fend off Amy Adams (Arrival) in Best Actress, and Denzel Washington (Fences) and Casey Affleck (Manchester) going head-to-head in Best Actor.
