See Emily Blunt Get Ready for a Gunfight in 'Sicario' Clip
Remember when Emily Blunt was best known for playing a neurotic fashion magazine assistant in The Devil Wears Prada? Those days seem long gone, with the actress more recently showing her tough side in futuristic action films like Looper and Edge of Tomorrow. The 32-year-old Brit takes it up a notch in the upcoming crime drama Sicario, where she plays an idealistic FBI agent assigned to help hunt down an anonymous drug lord. And while this one — directed by Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners) — is decidedly more gritty and grounded in present-day realism, Blunt still has to be ready for action.
In the exclusive clip above, Blunt is seen as Agent Kate Macy, a fresh recruit on a drug enforcement task force run by Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro). They’ve spotted their first targets, a carload of gun-toting men looking to cross the U.S.-Mexico border — and it looks like a shootout is inevitable.
Will they drop their weapons? We’ll find out when Sicario, also starring Josh Brolin, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Donovan, and Victor Garber, opens in theaters Sept. 18.
