UPDATE, 2:05 PM: Saturday Night Live‘s November 12 edition delivered season highs in adults 18-49 and total viewers and the show’s highest 18-49 rating since 2013 (3.72 with host Jimmy Fallon and musical guest Justin Timberlake), according to Live+Same Day ratings from Nielsen. The show with host Dave Chappelle and musical guest A Tribe Called Quest averaged a 3.15 rating/15 share in adults 18-49 and 8.691 total viewers. That tops the previous marks set by the October 22 edition hosted by Tom Hanks with musical guest Lady Gaga (2.41 rating in 18-49 and 8.653 million viewers overall).

PREVIOUS, NOVEMBER 13 AM: The first post-presidential election Saturday Night Live with Dave Chappelle making his hosting debut drew a 6.2 Live+same day household rating in the metered markets and a 3.9 in adults 18-49 in the markets with local people meters.

These are the highest numbers in both categories this season for SNL, up from last week’s 5.8 in HH and 2.8 in 18-49 with host Benedict Cumberbatch, with the demo result particularly impressive as younger audiences flocked to see Chappelle’s TV return. It was the highest 18-49 overnight since Dec. 21, 2013 (3.9 with host Jimmy Fallon and musical guest Justin Timberlake). Excluding the NFL-boosted Jan. 2012 telecast, the last time SNL rated higher was May 21, 2011 (4.5 with that season’s finale, hosted by Justin Timberlake with musical guest Lady Gaga).

In metered-market households, last night’s 6.2 edged this season’s prior high of a 6.1 on Oct. 22. Versus SNL‘s November 2015 average for originals, last night’s telecast, with musical guest A Tribe Called Quest, was up +22% in households (6.2 vs. 5.1) and up +70% in 18-49 (3.9 vs. 2.3).
