With small private funding secured, “Lorca(s)’” creators said they were confident of tapping completion finance from public broadcasters and art-culture channels.

Miñarro — one of the project’s directors– explained that individual projects were not linked to one another. Segments could be adaptations, recreations or reflections about Lorca.

“Lorca is now a universally recognised personality, most especially in some countries such as the U.S., Spain, Mexico and even Japan, where his works are constantly re-published and performed, and where he is an undisputed benchmark of the 20th century avant-garde,” Miñarro told Variety.

Originally a three-chapter feature film project presented at the 2015 Paris co-production forum, Small is Biutiful, “Lorca(s)” has been recast as a TV series of eight 45-50 minute episodes, offering a more plural vision of the huge universal influence of the Spanish artist, executed by Francisco Franco’s regime in August 1936.
