PARIS – With successful series Hannibal and Hemlock Grove both renewed for second seasons, and Nicolas Winding Refn’s hotly anticipated Barbarella in development, Gaumont International Television (GIT) is staffing up its L.A.-based executive team.
The television arm of France’s legendary mini-major film studio Gaumont announced the hire of Sam Semon as executive vp business operations. Semon joins GIT from Fremantle Media North America, where he served as vp business and legal affairs. Semon previously worked at CBS, Disney/ABC, and Sony Pictures International.
Gaumont vice CEO Christophe Riandee and GIT CEO Katie O’Connell announced the hire in a joint statement today.
GIT also announced some internal promotions. Elisa Roth, currently head of creative affairs, is getting a boost to president of creative/production.
As part of a new global structure and growth plan, executive staff, including Semon and Roth, will now report directly to O’Connell.
On the heels of the successful launch of the new TV arm with NBC’s Hannibal and Netflix’s Hemlock Grove, as well as Barbarella in production for France’s Canal Plus, GIT has been expanding its executive ranks. The company announced three new key hires in early August, with head of production Carol Trussell, supervisor of creative affairs Adam Fishbach and director of production administration Mary Carol Bulger joining the company.
