YouTube Comedy Star Anna Akana Signs With Abrams Artists Agency

Agency has signed YouTube comedy star Anna Akana for representation in digital, branding and licensing activities in a new deal with Maker Studios, the largest content network on YouTube. With more than 1.2 million subscribers and 110 million cumulative viewers, Akana’s weekly videos have made her one of the most-recognized comedy newcomers. She was named one of New Media Rockstar’s 100 top YouTube channels in 2014. Within the agency’s Alternative Programming and Digital Media department, Abrams Artists Agency will now represent Akana for new digital projects, as well as for branding and licensing. Greene & Associates rep the social media sensation in TV and Film she is also still managed by the Coronel Group.

Some of Akana’s posts: How to Put On Your Face has logged 3.1 million views and Why Guys Like Asian Girls, 2.3 million views. Two dozen of her videos that have exceeded 1 million views. The YouTube personality also is actively involved in suicide-prevention efforts – her video Please Don’t Kill Yourself has been viewed more than 1.3 million times.

In addition to signing Akana, Abrams Artists Agency currently represents top travel social media personality Nadine Sykora, who has signed with Maker Studios. Canadian-born Sykora is a vlogger, blogger and comedy YouTuber who has amassed more than 33.9 million YouTube views and nearly 200,000 subscribers sharing her experiences of traveling to more than 45 countries around the world, as well as the four countries in which she has lived.

Together, Maker and Sykora will create original content and brand integrations across all platforms to build her audience in exciting ways across platforms.

Maya Washington has renewed a deal with Maker Studios, represented by Abrams Artists Agency. Best known to her legion of fans as “Shameless Maya,” Washington’s videos and posts span lifestyle, transformation, tech, fashion and beauty, among other topics. Washington has been part of the Maker talent network since 2013, and has collaborated with Maker on a number of original series and brand integrations, including the recently announced “Maker Tales.”

Shameless Maya has garnered more than 35 million views and more than 560,000 subscribers on YouTube. Washington started her channel as a social-media experiment to shamelessly promote herself for 365 days. Now, she shares her journey in the hopes of inspiring others not to be ashamed of who they are. Washington is also an actress and has her own line of branded merchandise.

Akana and Washington are represented by Abrams Artists Agency’s Los Angeles office, while Sykora is represented by Abrams in New York. Akana also continues to be represented by Abrams Artists Agency’s Youth Commercial division in Los Angeles.
