Universal Near Deal To Acquire ‘He’s F#ckin’ Perfect’ Spec Out Of Turnaround

EXCLUSIVE: Universal is in talks to acquire the Lauryn Kahn comedy He’s F#ckin’ Perfect, a project that had been set up at Fox 2000 but has since come back into play. The deal for the 2011 Black List script out of turnaround still has Jake Szymanski attached to direct the screenplay by Kahn, the former assistant to Adam McKay who cut her teeth writing, performing and directing shorts for McKay and Will Ferrell’s Funny Or Die (Szymanski is also a Funny Or Die alum). McKay, Ferrell and Kevin Messick are producing the pic under their Gary Sanchez Productions banner. The plot revolves around a social media-savvy woman who uses the Internet to research the men her friends are dating to weed out potential losers. Things take a turn when she comes across a seemingly perfect man and tries to get him for herself, eventually forcing her to think about what a “perfect” match for her really is. Emma Stone had been circling this one before Fox 2000 first picked up the spec in December 2011 for $1 million against $1.5 million.

Kahn and McKay are repped by WME, and McKay is also repped by Mosaic. Szymanski and Ferrell are repped by CAA and Mosaic.
