Tribeca Sets Submission and Festival Dates for 2014 Edition

The 13th annual Tribeca Film Festival has locked in its dates, skedding the 11-day fest for April 16-27.

The fest also announced further expansion of its programs in new media, a realm Tribeca has staked out over the past few years as one of its focuses. On the upcoming docket are a new app plus an expansion of the org’s “hackathon” series and of its Disruptive Innovation Awards.

That growth will be funded by the festival’s new presenting sponsor, AT&T, which steps into the role that had been played by American Express over the first dozen years of Tribeca’s existence. Abundant sponsorship, and the high profile afforded its sponsors, is something for which the festival has become known, with other companies including Bombay Sapphire and Hilton also ponying up in past years to support the fest. AT&T also has previously sponsored components of the fest at lower levels.

Submission deadlines for the upcoming edition of the festival also have been announced, with the submission window opening Sept. 16. Official deadline for features, shorts and transmedia projects is Nov. 29, with an early deadline marked at Oct. 18 and a late one, available only to features completed after Nov. 29, set for Dec. 27.

Festival, co-founded by Robert De Niro, Jane Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff, launched in spring 2002 as an effort to bring an economic boost to the lower Manhattan neighborhoods affected by 9/11.
