Tribeca Film Grabs Sharlto Copley Thriller ‘Open Grave’
Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego’s film centers on a man, played by Copley (“Elysium,” “District 9″), who wakes up in a mass grave and must piece together what happened with a group of strangers who have all lost their memories. Joseph Morgan (“The Originals,” “The Vampire Diaries”), Josie Ho, Thomas Kretschmann (upcoming NBC skein “Dracula”) and Erin Richards also star in the film, penned by Chris and Eddie Borey.
Tribeca plans a release for the title starting on VOD and digital platforms (including iTunes, Amazon and Google Play) in December followed by a theatrical release in major markets. Pic will screen at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain later this month.
William Green and Aaron L. Ginsburg of Atlas Independent and Michael B. Wunderman produce in association with 852 Films. Distribution deal was pacted by Tribeca Film’s Nick Savva with WME’s Deb McIntosh.
Tribeca Film is loosely affiliated with the Tribeca Film Festival, which both operate under the umbrella of Tribeca Enterprises. “Open Grave” joins a Tribeca slate that also includes “Zero Charisma,” “Sal,” “The Broken Circle Breakdown” and “The Truth About Emanuel.”
