Tom Holland Is Repeatedly Being Electrocuted As Part Of His Spider-Man Training

How far would you go to become Spider-Man? It doesn’t really matter what you said because Tom Holland has got you beat, as the 19-year-old actor has revealed that he’s repeatedly being electrocuted during his training for the film.

You’d have thought that Marvel Studios would have been more protective of their latest acquisition.

But Holland has insisted that it’s all above board though, explaining that it’s all in the name of turning him into a bona-fide superhero.

With filming on ‘Spider-Man’ is due to begin at some point in 2016, Holland explained, via Comic Book Movie, “I went to the gym yesterday where they strap electric belts on you and you do exercise while being electrocuted.”

“It’s a really strange experience,” Holland admitted. “It’s like a dull tingling but I’m definitely feeling it today. I have to do 20 minutes once a week. Marvel are quite against us doing our own stunts [though].”

Tom Holland also explained how another part of his rigorous training exercise is to jump on what is basically “a huge bouncy castle” named an AirTrack, something that sounds a lot more enjoyable than repeatedly being electrocuted.

Meanwhile Holland also provided an insight into how he possibly convinced Marvel and Sony to cast him as Spider-Man.

Speaking about his audition tape, Holland, who while performing ’Billy Elliot’ became remarkably limber, revealed, “I basically did a somersault into frame and a somersault out of frame and I was like, ‘They may never see this but if they do I need them to know that I’ve got some gymnastic abilities and stuff’.”

Clearly it worked, because after a lengthy audition process Tom Holland was announced as the new Spider-Man earlier this year.

And while we’ll get to see him in action, probably only briefly, in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ on May 6, 2016, our first fully blown exposure to him will come when the currently untitled ‘Spider-Man’ reboot is released on July 28, 2017.
