Tom Cruise Linked With Disney’s Bob: The Musical

More news on future Disney projects has emerged this week as it’s not only been confirmed that Pulitzer Prize winner Michael Chabon will be writing the script for the song-filled ‘Bob: The Musical’, but seems Tom Cruise is contemplating boarding the film too.

Cruise would be a huge coup for Disney, considering what a winning combination that would be. Cruise is arguably the biggest movie star on the planet, as his ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise continues to impress audiences.

Should he accept the comedic lead role, it’d see his ‘regular Joe’ character hit on the head and develop the ability to hear inner songs of everyone’s heart, thus turning his mundane life into a living, breathing musical farce.

What’s more, ‘Flight of the Conchords’ star Bret McKenzie is on board to pen its musical numbers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. McKenzie has previously worked on Disney’s ‘The Muppets’, where he wrote the songs for the hit film. His work included Man or Muppet, which went on to win an Oscar for Best Original Song in 2012′s ceremony.

The project’s been in long-term development since 2004 after struggling to secure a director, but now has one with Oscar-winning ‘The Artist’ director Michel Hazanavicius.

The prospect of Cruise, McKenzie, Chabon and Hazanavicius collaborating on a Disney film is, as we’re sure you’d agree, an enticing proposition indeed.

Would Mr. Cruise be utilising his skill he showed off in a recent lip sync battle with Jimmy Fallon? We’ll have to wait and see…
