The Boy From Big Recreates Famous Zoltar Scene

For better or worse, actor David Moscow shall forever be known as the boy from ‘Big’.

But understandably, he’s still doing his best to move on from that whole business of playing the adolescent version of Tom Hanks’ goofy Josh Baskin from the 1988 classic.

In fact, he’s trying to get a film funded on Kickstarter (check out the video here), and clearly game for a laugh, he went ahead and recreated the iconic 'Zoltar’ scene from the movie – in which Josh wished that he 'was big’.

In a sketch preceding his bid for donations, he and a friend visit a clumsily stereotyped Eastern European/Russian to get funding, but find that such money would come with strings attached.

Instead, he goes to the Zoltar machine, and wishes for 'money to finish my movie’.

Said movie is called 'Desolation’, and Moscow, at the time of writing, is just $10,000 short of his target of $57,000, which he needs to complete post production.

In the video, Moscow, now 41, explains: “Since I was young, I’ve worked as an actor on a number of films, TV shows and plays, but I’ve always been passionate about working behind the camera as a director.”

The movie he’s trying to make follows a girl who is swept up by a young leading man, when his film is made in her small home town.

But on returning with him to Hollywood, things soon take a sinister turn – Moscow comparing the script to the classic thrillers of the 70s, like 'The Shining’ and 'Rosemary’s Baby’.

There are various rewards for donations, including invites to special screenings, consultation sessions on your own movie or TV projects, or, for $2500, be given an associate producer credit.

Moscow continued to work as a jobbing actor after shooting to fame in 'Big’, but most movies were of the 'TV’ and straight-to-dvd variety.

Mind you, he did slightly better than Josh’s pal Billy, who after appearing in 'Honey, I Shrunk The Kids’ a year after 'Big’, saw things peter out over the next decade.

His last appearance was a small TV role in 2000.

Tom Hanks, meanwhile, went on to gain some notoriety…
