Sundance Winner Directing Movie Adaptation ‘Infidelity’ (EXCLUSIVE)

Sundance winner Geneviève Dulude-Decelles will direct an independent movie based on Stacey May Fowles’ novel “Infidelity,” Variety has learned exclusively.

Dulude-Decelles, who won the Sundance Short Film jury award for “The Cut” last year, is also writing the script. Allison Black of Euclid 431 Pictures and Karen Shaw of Quarterlife Crisis Prods. are producing with Canada’s Bell Media Harold Greenberg Fund.

Producers met with directors and writers at the Berlin Film Festival in February, pitching the project in the vein of Diane Lane’s 2002 drama “Unfaithful” and Showtime’s series “The Affair.”

“The story was especially appealing and refreshing to us because of the woman’s point of view at the center,” Shaw told Variety.

The film follows a 30-something engaged hairdresser who has an affair with a married man. The obsessive and illicit relationship ultimately unravels both of their lives.
