Steve Carell Starring in Teacher Drama ‘The Priority List’
Steve Carell is attached to star in a movie version of David Menasche’s “The Priority List: A Teacher’s Final Quest to Discover Life’s Greatest Lessons” at Warner Bros.
The studio has acquired film rights to the memoir, published in January. Carell will also produce through his Warner-based Carousel Prods. with Charlie Hartsock and Vance DeGeneres.
Menasche’s book details a six-year battle with brain cancer that took away his ability to teach high school English in Miami, followed by a journey of more than 8,000 miles to visit hundreds of his former students to come to terms with his illness and live fully in the present.
Andy Fischel is overseeing the project for the studio.
Carell will be seen next in Sony Classics’ “Foxcatcher” and Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.”
CAA represented Menasche in the deal. Carell is repped by WME and Media Four.
