‘If I Stay’ Adds Jamie Blackley, Odeya Rush Lands ‘The Giver,’ Krysten Ritter Joins ‘Listen Up Philip’

Jamie Blackley (Snow White And The Huntsman, The Fifth Estate) has snagged the male lead in MGM‘s book adaptation If I Stay. He’ll play Adam opposite Chloe Moretz in the pic directed by R.J. Cutler, based on Gayle Forman’s YA novel about a comatose teenager who has an out-of-body experience in the hospital and is faced with choosing between living a difficult life or giving up altogether. Blackley, an Isle of Man native, next stars in the Bryan Singer-produced uwantme2killhim? He is repped by WME, United Agents in the UK and Luber Roklin Entertainment.

The Weinstein Co.’s lit adaptation The Giver has added 16-year-old Odeya Rush to its cast. The actress, seen in Disney’s The Odd Life of Timothy Green, joins Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, and Brenton Thwaites in the dystopian tale adapted from Lois Lowry’s novel about Jonas (Thwaites), a young man who is chosen to receive memories of life before emotion was wiped from society. Israel-born Rush will play Fiona, the best friend and love interest to Jonas. She is repped by Gersh, Magnolia Entertainment and attorney Rick Genow.

Indie comedy Listen Up Philip has cast Krysten Ritter as Melanie, the daughter of renowned writer Ike Zimmerman, who is living proof of her father’s regrettable actions. Alex Ross Perry wrote and will direct the pic, which also has Jason Schwartzman and Elisabeth Moss attached to star. Filming will begin in the fall under the Ain’t Them Bodies Saints production team Sailor Bear (James M. Johnston, Toby Halbrooks, and David Lowery). Ritter is filming Tim Burton’s Big Eyes and will appear in the Veronica Mars movie. She is repped by Sanders Armstrong Caserta Management, The Group Entertainment, WME and attorney Dave Feldman.
