‘Star Wars’ New Product List: Mascara, Dog Collars, Beds, And Boxers – Update

UPDATE, 11:52 AM: Now that Force Friday is here, the wraps are off the vast array of products Disney has licensed to feed off of, and contribute to, the hype for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in December. Here are some of the new lines, in addition to toys, lunchboxes and backpacks:

In apparel, J. Crew has clothing for men, women and kids depicting Han Solo saying, “Chewie, we’re home.” Kohl’s offers tees, leggings, sweatshirts, hoodies, dresses and men’s boxers with movie imagery. JCPenney also has Star Wars

clothing, including T-shirts that combine movie images with college logos.

For the home, Pottery Barn Kids has a Millennium Falcon children’s bed — for a cool $4,000. Amazon is offering Star Wars ice trays, measuring cups, cookie cutters and a Darth Vader toaster. Michael’s has a Star Wars crochet set, along with dinner plates and party goods.

For those who want a more personal connection to the movie: Walmart is promoting a “limited-edition collectible mascara” and other makeup from Cover Girl. (You can pick “the light side” or “the dark side.”) Petco brings animals into the action with items including a Kylo Ren Dog Tug, a BB-8 Wobble & Mylar Cat Toy, Darth Vader cat and dog collars and an R2-D2 Dog Hoodie. Kay Jewelers’ “Charmed Memories” collection now includes charms featuring Darth Vader, R2-D2, Stormtroopers and quotations from the movie.

PREVIOUS, THURSDAY PM: Disney’s 18-hour global online unboxing event for Star Wars toys and products is over, ahead of its carefully planned Force Friday sales campaign. And while the revelations didn’t begin to capture the vast array of licensed products about to hit the shelves — including the new Star Wars Duck Tape — here are a few items that stand out, at least based on the official hype:

Sphero hopes to charm tech fans with its BB-8 app-enabled Droid, with a suggested retail price of $150. The device rolls around the floor and makes noises that are “playful, personable, and true to the Star Wars galaxy,” according to the promotional copy. It will “show a range of expressions and perk up when you give voice commands…BB-8 is more than a toy — it’s your companion.”

Air Hogs Starfighter

If you prefer a drone to a Droid, Air Hogs has a remote controlled Millennium Falcon Quad for $110 and X-Wing Starfighter for $70. The Falcon “takes flight with the power of quad rotors” and offers “authentic lights and sounds.” The Starfighter “uses ducted propellers to power its flight letting you create your favorite scenes.” It’s made from “durable high-density foam” which means it “stands up against the toughest crash landings.”

For costumes, kids can dress like a Stormtrooper for $60. It has three swappable pauldrons so the user can be an Officer, Sergeant, or Squad Leader. For the same price, kids can dress like Captain Phasma (you’ll know soon enough) with a suit, mask, belt and “a cape perfect for making sweeping entrances.”

Hasbro has a Nerf First Order Stormtrooper Deluxe Blaster for $40 with 12 darts that supposedly fire up to 65 feet.

And Lightsabers! For $50 you can pick up a Bladebuilders Jedi

Master Lightsaber with “lights and sounds, two independently lit lightdaggers, expansion hilt, two elbow connectors, dual connector, and cross connector.” (Not to worry: the three AAA batteries are included.) Or, for $30, there’s a Kylo Ren Lightsaber that features “the mysterious villain’s distinctive cross hilt blades, lights, motion-sensor sounds, battle-clash rumble and dueling effects.”
