Sony Spins Animated Spider-Man With ‘Lego’ Filmmakers, Sets’ Equalizer’ Sequel And Dates Next Spidey
Tom Rothman came out swinging at CinemaCon. He announced in Vegas that Lego Movie helmers Phil Lord & Christopher Miller will make an animated feature of Spider-Man. They’ll conceive with an eye to direct it. We knew that the animated film was in the works, and that Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua planned to do a sequel to their 2014 film The Equalizer. Rothman formalized that, too. It doesn’t impede the progress of a new line of Spidey live-action films in the works, these with Marvel chief Kevin Feige in a producing capacity. The animated film will be released July 20, 2018. The live-action sequel will be released July 28, 2017.
