Skip Brittenham’s Sci-Fier ‘Anomaly’ Set Up With Relativity
Ryan Kavanaugh’s Relativity Media has acquired feature rights to sci-fi graphic novel “Anomaly,” penned by Hollywood dealmaker Skip Brittenham and writer Brian Haberlin.
The project was first up in May 2012, with Joe Roth attached to produce.
The adaptation will be written by Ed Ricourt. Roth is producing with Kavanaugh and Tucker Tooley.
“Anomaly” centers on a disgraced conglomerate enforcer who gets a shot at redemption by leading a rag tag group of explorers on a first contact mission to a newly discovered planet — which turns out to be a deadly trap.
Brittenham, a senior partner of Ziffren Brittenham, and Haberlin had been working on the project for several years before setting it up with Roth.
“Anomaly,” illustrated by Haberlin and Geirrod Van Dyke, is set in the year 2717 with most humans living in off-world colonies and a single corporation, the Conglomerate, routinely conquering other planets to steal their resources. Brittenham and Haberlin worked with academicians in philosophy, religion and science to develop the story’s cultural landscape and planetary functions based on actual historical and scientific facts.
Brittenham has worked closely with Pixar, DreamWorks Animation and Illumination Entertainment and has served on the boards of both Pixar and DreamWorks Animation. Haberlin’s career includes working at Top Cow Prods. and Todd MacFarlane Prods., founding Haberlin Studios and co-founding Avalon Studios.
