Simon Pegg, E.L. James Party at the Pub for the ‘The World’s End’
“The Brits are coming! The Brits are coming!” Simon Pegg shouted before the Aug. 21 premiere of “The World’s End” at the Cinerama Dome in Hollywood. He wasn’t kidding.
After the hotly-attended premiere, Focus Features took the pub crawl laffer down the street to British pub The Cat and Fiddle where guests like “50 Shades of Grey” author E.L. James dined on fish and chips and shepherd’s pie.
“Fucking fantastic night,” director Edgar Wright said, clenching a pint of Stella.
Chris Evans, Jack Black, rocker Dave Grohl, Bill Hader and Rashida Jones were among the party-goers as Brit rockers Blur blared from the speakers.
Pegg, admittedly tired after a four-week U.S. publicity launch, still managed a huge smile at the premiere.
“I had a headache earlier, so I took a couple of Advil which turned out to be Xanax,” he joked.
Co-star Nick Frost even took to the DJ both and began spinning in the wee hours as Wright and others looked on.
“We’ve been wanting to make this movie for years,” Wright said. “I think it first appeared in Variety in 2006.”
As for the film’s box office potential, “It’s not about being No. 1,” he vowed. “The important part is we’re here.”
