Roy Rogers' Sprawling 'Double R' Ranch Sells for $645,000
The sprawling desert ranch where King of the Cowboys Roy Rogers once hung his hat sold for $645,000 last week.
The 67-acre Double R ranch near Victorville, in the Mojave Desert, has a 1,700-square-foot house, a barn, a stable with 15 stalls and a half-mile horse track.
The new owner is Margaret Tom, a retired social worked from Kaneohe, Hawaii, who told the Victorville Daily Press she plans to maintain the ranch's unique character and raise her Arabian steeds.

The Williams & Williams Worldwide auction firm handled the sale, which came 10 years after the property was sold to Eric and Anne Enriquez of Orange County. They restored the property to the glory of its heyday when owned by the star.
"When we purchased the property it was uninhabitable," Anne Enriquez told the Victorville paper. "Everything was dead. We put all the electrical underground, painted and my father-in-law trained his horses here. We put so much money into this place. This is very bittersweet and sad for us, but the new owners are so sweet."
"I want to carry on the tradition of the ranch," a tearful Tom told the paper after the bidding ended. "We're just so enchanted with the place and what it was meant to be and we want to honor Roy and Dale and include the people of Victorville."
She has not yet said how she plans to keep the ranch open to the public, though there are already public events scheduled for the coming months.
Rogers died in 1998 at 86.
