‘Rookie Blue’ Ratings Fall, ‘Big Brother’ Even, ‘Boom!’ & ‘Under The Dome’ Rise

As we await the programming flood of the upcoming season, last night was a bit of a roller coaster on primetime. While Big Brother (2.0/7), the top rated and second most watched (6.34 million) show of the night, was even among adults 18-49 with its August 20 show, lead-out Under The Dome (0.9/3) saw a nice rise. Up 13% from last week, the thriller based on the works of Stephen King took its 10 PM time slot against fellow drama Rookie Blue (0.5/2).

In fact, it was not a good night for the Canadian import cop show on a few levels. With a 17% drop from last week, Rookie Blue hit a series low in the key demo – at least in fast nationals. Lead-in Mistresses (0.8/3), on the other hand, was even with last week.

Unlike last Thursday, last night was not hit left, right and center by NFL preseason preemptions on the nets. However, this Thursday, like last week, was still a win for CBS with a 1.4/5 rating and viewership of 5.813 million. A nice chunk of that came from the 7.29 million who tuned in for The Big Bang Theory (1.5/6) repeat that started CBS’ primetime.

With a 1.0/4 rating and 4.939 million watching, NBC was second overall for the night. The network’s Food Fighters (0.9/4) was the same as last week’s season high while Dateline Thursday Night Mystery (1.1/4) was steady with a mere 8% slip. Fox’s only original of the night was Boom! (0.7/3). Not that they’ll be feeling slim on that, the unscripted show rose a strong 17% among adults 18-49 over its August 20 airing. The CW’s Beauty and The Beast (0.3/1) was up 50%, or a tenth of a point, over last week.
