Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘The Judge’ Set For Oscar Push

Warner Bros. has dated Robert Downey Jr.’s “The Judge” for Oct. 10, 2014, making the legal drama about a big-city lawyer whose father is accused of murder a prime suspect for Oscar season.

Robert Duvall portrays Downey’s father, the small-town’s judge from where the film’s title is derived.

Vincent D’Onofrio, Vera Farmiga and Billy Bob Thornton also star, with David Dobkin directing. The project is a co-production between Warner-based Team Downey and Big Kid Pictures, with Susan Downey, Dobkin and David Gambino producing.

Two other titles have already been dated for Oct. 14, 2014 — Sony’s Seth Rogen comedy “The Interview” and Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.”
