Reese Witherspoon, Sofia Vergara Team Up on ‘Don’t Mess With Texas’

Universal Pictures has won the rights to the spec “Don’t Mess With Texas” which has Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara set to star.

David Feeney and John Quaintance penned the script and Witherspoon will produce along with producing partner Bruna Papandrea for their Pacific Standard production company with Dana Fox. Deadline Hollywood broke the news.

Story follows about a cop and a prisoner on the run in Texas, with crooked cops in hot pursuit.

Production is set to start next year. Universal’s Vice President of production Kristin Lowe will oversee on behalf of the studio.

Witherspoon is repped by CAA and Management 360 and can currently be seen in “Mud.” Vergara is repped by CAA and Untitled and can still be seen on ABC’s “Modern Family.”
