Rachel McAdams In Early Talks For Marvel’s ‘Doctor Strange’

Rachel McAdams has confirmed she is in early talks to play the female lead in Marvel’s Doctor Strange. Speaking to the LA Times, McAdams, who can currently be seen wielding a knife in Season 2 of True Detective, mentioned it was “early days” but that she is considering boarding the project opposite Benedict Cumberbatch. There is still some way for this deal to get set but it would make an interesting change of pace for McAdams.

Scott Derrickson is directing Doctor Strange and Jon Spaihts is writing the script for the pic (the first draft was penned by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer). Doctor Strange was hatched by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko during that Marvel Comics heyday of the early 1960s. He’s a neurosurgeon who becomes Sorcerer Supreme, protecting Earth against magical and mystical threats with powers of sorcery, mysticism, and martial arts. Marvel’s Kevin Feige is producing.

Tilda Swinton and Chiwetel Ejiofor are also set to star in the film. Disney has set the film for release on November 4, 2016. My colleague Mike Fleming Jr exclusively revealed last month that Ejiofor will be playing Baron Mordo, an enemy of Doctor Strange who first appeared in the comic Strange Tales in 1963.
